Victorian Garnet and Citrine Snake Necklace, c.1850s

Dating to the Victorian era, this stunning necklace takes on the likeness of a snake. Crafted in 15 carat yellow gold the handcrafted piece features a collection of garnets and citrines. The largest of the garnets sit atop the snake’s head and the heart it holds in its mouth, with smaller garnets and citrines surrounding both. The elegant snake motif continues around the neck with a distinctly scale-like chain sitting at 14″ around the neck, then curling around the head to form the snake’s tail. Crafted in the 1850s, this is a truly beautiful piece of early Victorian design.
