Victorian Diamond, Ruby and Emerald Brooch, c1880s

Dating to the Victorian period this whimsical brooch takes on the likeness of a bird landing on a basket of flowers. Hand crafted in 18 carat yellow gold the brooch is exquisitely detailed. The basket is adorned with red enamel work, whilst the bird and flowers have been set with rubies, diamonds and emeralds, bringing each to life. A total of 0.10 carat in rose cut diamonds have been used across the piece. Two 0.02 carat rubies and one 0.03 carat emerald brings colour to the flowers, whilst an additional small ruby takes on the likeness of the birds eye. This wonderful piece features a simple pin back for security and ease of wear.
