Late Art Deco Opal and Diamond Dress Ring, c.1940s
Out of stock
This unique ring features a stunning black opal, one of the most popular semi-precious gemstones, which weighs 1.60 carat. Black opals are mined in Australia and have stronger dark hues throughout the gemstone. It is a cabochon cut stone, which is shallow, but spreads wonderfully. This opal has great colour to it, and the simple, yet stunning, diamond design on either side is very art deco in style. There are four diamonds in total supporting the centre stone and they have a weight totalling 0.40 carat. They are estimated to be G in colour and VS in clarity and are rub over set. This is another design feature which contrasts the centre, claw set, opal. The band of the ring is made of 18 carat yellow gold, which the top of the setting work is platinum.
